‘Non Governmental Organizations have great role to play in the social reforms and they should realize their this moral and social duty by doing their bit for the upliftment of the downtrodden communities of the society’ it was said by Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharmsot, Minister for Printing and Stationary, Forests and Welfare of Schedule Cast, Punjab while delivering a keynote address at the function organized by Aruna asaf Ali memorial trust to celebrate the completion of 20 years of public service.Mr.Dharamsot emphasized upon the need for working for the upliftment of dalits and labour involved in the unorganized sectors.He appreciated the work being done by NGOs  and has expressed  happiness that the Aruna Asaf Ali Trust is a  non-political organization which is focused on the Welfare of the economically weaker sections of the society without considerations based on religion, caste, creed  or region. 

Mr. Dharamsot also wished that more people would come forward to help in rebuilding Punjab and make it once again number one state in each field of development.The Minister expressed happiness that The Aruna Asaf Ali Trust has been able to train more than 7000 girls in the last decade in various skills of Computers, beauty culture and stitching and tailoring. Most of the girls are gainfully employed. The Trust has been working in field of skill development for under privileged girls in villages of Punjab. Along with this the Trust also run informal schools for slum children coming from the families of domestic helps and Rag Pickers
