Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today laid foundation stone of  Rs.9.74 crore  Lift Water Supply Scheme (LWSS) at Kanaid in Nachan assembly constituency of Mandi district, that will benefit  habitations  of gram panchayat Kanaid alongwith  nearby panchayats  Bhour, Dungraaen, Chhater, upper Behli and Jugahan. The scheme would cover 27 villages and  population of around 22,000.He also laid foundation stone of LWSS for  habitations viz:  Doldhar, Badhetar, Kotla in gram panchayat Ghiri, Bhalana and Doldhar in Tehsil Sundernagar at Kanaid amounting to Rs. 3.40 crore to benefit population of around 5000 persons of 39 villages in this area. While addressing a huge gathering at Kanaid, the Chief Minister said that the sitting MLA from Nachan was trying to prove that the entire public gathering  at Kanaid was efforts of his hard work. He said it becomes  the duty of elected representatives and MLAs  to look into the welfare of people and carry out development works. The MLAs  get a separate budget for that, he added.

The sitting MLA may have worked in his constituency but it was wrong to claim that the entire development was carried out by him. It was the government which was behind the development of all the  areas alike. Development was a continuous process irrespective of the reasons that the constituency having MLA of opposition will not be developed, he said.None of the area is ignored whether it is constituency of the MLA from the ruling party or the opposition. Congress Govt. is committed for equal development of the state. MLA of opposition party should not misguide the people of the area. He said that in annual plan meeting the priorities of all MLAs were  discussed and taken into consideration. The three-tier Panchayati Raj system was the backbone of the democratic set up and several times the state Government  had raised the issue with centre for releasing funds to Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti’s also," he said.He said that the funds to carry out development by Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishad were being borne by the state government from its own resources. The government of India was just giving funds for the panchayats and not for Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishad. The Chief Minister also announced for construction of additional building of science lab in GSSS, Kanaid. Later in the evening he inaugurated the Police Post at Pandoh.MLA, Nachan, Vinod Kumar while addressing the gathering thanked Chief Minister for laying foundation stone of two water supply schemes in the area thus fulfilling the long pending demand of the area.
