Govt to initiate action against elements creating hurdles in execution of public works

The Government has decided to take legal action against people who are creating hurdles in construction of a vital road in Darhal area.As per the district administration, some people in Darhal stopped the Machinery mobilized by Public Works Department deputed for resurfacing of road passing through the town. Based on the feedback of Public Works Department, the district administration has asked for legal action and shifting the machinery to other priority projects in wake of physical obstacle created to machinery and manpower.Pertinently during a recent visit of District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary to Darhal, the long pending demand of town road and Rajouri-Darhal roads were discussed. “Decks were cleared for resurfacing of town road and also hectic efforts were made by District Administration and PMGSY for resolving the dispute for early start of Kassian Darhal to Thanamang and Prori road which were under court stay after tenders were floated in 2016” a  spokesperson of district administration said.

He said Minister for FCS&CA and Information, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali also held meeting with Advocate General on June 11 2017 for expediting the matter in the court. However, on persuasion of district administration the petitioner contractor vide his letter dated 02 July 2017 gave a written undertaking to department for withdrawal of case and completion of tendering process as per norms.More than a dozen meetings were held in last two months at various levels for start of this prestigious project which entails Rs 14.41 Cr expenditure upto Darhal and another Rs 18.71 Cr upto Prori.The machinery mobilized by PWD on directions of district administration on 15 July 2017 was halted by some local people who urged the field officers not to start the road.Taking serious cognizance of this high headed approach of some people, the district administration has directed the departments of PWD and PMGSY not to delay execution of projects and in wake of such practices complete other ongoing projects on priority. Meanwhile, department has also been asked to furnish a report regarding such people halting the construction work and machinery.
