Governor visits DDRC Chandigarh

Governor Acharya Devvrat today visited Drug De-Addiction & Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) at Chandigarh.He interacted with the senior functionaries of the health department and discussed about the strategy and technology being adopted for treatment of the inmates. He also  interacted with the inmates of the centre.He said the problems of drug abuse and other related issues have reached alarming proportion in the region and most of the youth get hooked to this menace with the instigation of anti-social elements. He said that possibilities would be explored to set up such type of centre at Himachal Pradesh also so that such facilities could be available in the state.DDRC is a project of Health department of UT Chandigarh and managed by the Society for Promotion of Youth & Masses (SPYM), New Delhi. The Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art innovative techniques to cure persons suffering from dependence on various drugs, with follow up programmes to make them good citizens.
