Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli today called upon researchers and experts to come up with concrete solution for growing shortage of fodder.He was addressing a gathering of officials and experts after releasing a book related to Hydroponics techniques. Hydroponics is a technique for cost effective production of fodder, which also require minimum land and water.MLA, Jammu West, Satpal Sharma and officers/officials of the department and a large number of farmers were also present.The Minister said that the modern day concerns that are impacting the potential of the industry across the sectors, is shortage of fodder. He further said the problem can be addressed by adopting the process of hydroponics. He suggested for setting up demonstration plots, in consultation with experts, to popularize the highly cost effective technique among the farmers.The Minister called upon the farmers to learn about hydroponics technique, through which they can produce 600 kg fodder from 50 sq meter of land by using of only 5-10% of water against the conventional method.  He further informed that said they can produce 12015 kg fodder from 1.5 kg seeds within 7-9 days with minimum investment of Rs.30,000/- to 35,000/- for a unit of up to 10 animals.
