Expressing concern over the rising communal tension in certain pockets of West Bengal, opposition Left Front on Tuesday urged the Mamata Banerjee government to organise district level all-party meetings and deploy paramilitary forces or even the army to restore an environment of peace and harmony."It is a matter of concern that some communal forces are trying to disrupt the peace and prosperity at various parts of the state. The state government should consider holding all party meeting at the district level and also in individual localities if needed. The army and the paramilitary forces should be called in if necessary," Left Front Chairman Biman Bose said in a press statement.Referring to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's series of allegations against Governor Keshri Nath Tripathi, the veteran Left leader said a clash between the constitutional head and the administrative head in the state would only fuel the unwanted polarisation."A clash between the constitutional head and the administrative head in the state at this point of crisis would only fuel the politics of polarisation. It is now time to fight the communal tension at various places with able hands," he said.Echoing Bose, CPI-M state secretary Surja Kanta Misra also advocated all party meeting and army deployment at the tension hit areas. He appealed to everyone to stay united in the fight to defeat the politics of polarisation in Bengal."We demand all party meeting and army deployment. Debate on phone call unwanted. All must be united for peace and amity. Defeat polarisation politics," Misra wrote on Twitter.
