DC for mass awareness about special enrollment drive

In order to discuss the modalities for holding  month long special electors enrollment drive in  the  district from July 1 for enrolling the left out voters, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai who is also District Election Officer (DEO), here today. ADDC, Ravinder Nath Sadhu, ACR, Vevaik Puri, ACD G.H Kripak, Nodal Officer SVEEP Reyaz Ahmed Bhat, SDMs, Tehsildars and other concerned officer were present in  the meeting.Speaking on the occasion DEO said that for the period of special enrollment drive, the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) shall visit door to door for registration of newly eligible voters in the age group of 18-21. During this process purification of electoral rolls will also be conducted and voters who are already registered can apply for addition, deletion, correction or transposition of their data.It was informed that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has fixed the programme for special enrolment drive for left out voters for a period of one month from 01st July 2017 to 31st July 2017 and the focus  would  be on the enrolment of first time eligible electors and young citizens in the age group of 18-21 years.

As per the directions of ECI, on 8th July and 22nd July 2017, Special camps shall be held where the BLOs will  remain stationed at their respective polling booths to help people to bring necessary changes in the electoral rolls.It was also decided in the meeting that awareness camps would be held across the district in connection with the SVEEP campaign.It was informed that for the convenience of public, a complaint redressal cell has been established in  District Election Cell Ramban where people can call for any sort of query and help.Later,   while speaking at a  press conference  DEO highlighted role and responsibilities   of different departments   in special electors enrollment drive, under SVEEP and directed the officers for sensitizing people especially youth attaining the age of 18 years by organizing camp and through field functionaries of their respective departments to cover eligible voter.
