Secretary to Government School Education Department Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah today paid a visit to State Institute of Education (SIE) Srinagar to take stock of the functioning of the various wings of the institution.Secretary was accompanied by Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. GN Itoo along with a team of officers of the Directorate. Both the officers inspected various sections of SIE Srinagar.On this occasion, Secretary said that SIE is a premier educational institution which has a leading role in providing quality education in Kashmir by way of various programs of training, workshops, seminars etc. He said the institution should be an example of excellence and should also be an attractive place of education.He directed that the boundary wall of the institution and the macadamization of link roads within SIE premises should be taken up at the earliest.Secretary was informed by the Director School Education that two major additions of Teacher’s Bhawan and the Auditorium are in the final stages of completion. 

Secretary School Education Department directed the Housing Board Engineers to expedite the work on auditorium so that it can be formally inaugurated by the end of August 2017.Secretary was also told that Teacher’s Bhawan shall play a pivotal role in teacher’s training programs as this shall provide residential facility to the trainee teachers and guest resource persons.He was informed that Teacher’s Bhawan being built at the estimated cost of Rs 7.51 crore, has almost been completed and shall be taken over by the department by July 2017. The Auditorium shall take three months for completion as truss work has been completed and internal work is in progress. The expenditure so far is Rs 786.00 lakhs.Secretary directed the agency to hand over the complex so that same is inaugurated in the second week of July.Meanwhile, Secretary School Education also paid a visit to DPS Athwajan along with Director School Education to know the level of damage caused during the recent incident. The management of the said school assured that the teaching work shall be resumed in the school within 15 days.
