3-day MODI FEST concludes at Rajouri

District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today underlined the importance of a sustained awareness campaign on various welfare schemes of Government to bring about real empowerment of people.He said lack of information dissemination about Government welfare initiatives has hindered the percolation of intended benefits to a large section of targeted groups.Dr Shahid was speaking at a 3-day “Making of Developing India (MODI)” fest that concluded at Government Higher Secondary School Rajouri, here today.During the festival, exhibition highlighting progress and achievements of different government departments was held.The exhibition had numerous stalls on the initiatives of Government for various sections like insurance for various sections, pensions, farmers’ welfare, “Mudra” loans, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna, Fasal Beema Yojna, ICDS, Beti Padhao Beti Bachao, Sukanya Samridhi Yojna, Atal Pension Yojna, Ujjwala Yojna etc.Inspecting stalls that were setup to apprise visitors about Government welfare schemes, the DDC appreciated efforts of participating departments for highlighting achievements, and displaying material on awareness regarding development and welfare schemes of their departments.Resource persons from departments explained the public on the benefits of the schemes being implemented through their departments, during the festival.To bring about empowerment through awareness, District Administration has already notified mega camps for awareness of general public on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes, State Government Schemes, Right to Information Act and for services under Public Services Guarantee Act.The camps to be headed by Deputy Commissioner, ADDC, ADC and SDMs will also redress public grievances and educate people about their rights under RTI and PSGA, public review and feedback about their implementation.ADC Mumtaz Ali Choudhary, ACR Paramjeet Singh, CDPO Rajouri Auqil Nuvaid beside officers of other departments, students, anganwadi workers and people in large numbers participated on the concluding day of the festival.
