Orders Forest Officials To Formulate Plan For Planting Trees Along National Highways

“The necessary approvals for felling of trees for the purpose of constructing ultra modern road network in the state would soon be accorded to the Public Works Department (PWD) so as to provide the best infrastructure to the people of Punjab.”This was disclosed by the Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister, Punjab, S. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot after his meeting with the PWD Minister Mrs. Razia Sultana. Mr. Dharamsot instructed the officers of the forest department to accord necessary approvals in faster mode for constructing national highways in the state. He also said that the clearances and approvals regarding the projects of the PWD sanctioned as per rule would be accorded soon. The minister further said that the co-ordination amongst all the departments is key to the overall development of state as all the departments are inter-linked with each other. 

Directing the forest officers to ensure planting of trees along soon to come up new national highways, Mr. Dharamsot said that this is absolutely necessary to maintain the forest cover as well as ecological balance. Emphasizing the need to plant more trees in the forest areas, the Minister instructed the departmental officers to explore the possibilities of planting more trees alongside state and national highways and submit a report concerning the same within one month. The PWD Minister Mrs. Razia Sultana thanked the Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister, S. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot for extending co-operation. Others present on the occasion included Secretary, PWD (B & R), Mr. Hussan Lal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Kuldeep Kumar, Chief Engineer Headquarters, PWD Mr. A.K. Singla, M.D. Forest Corporation Mr. Jatinder Sharma and Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Anup Upadhayay.
