Woman’s family appeals police to probe her ‘suicide’

‘Her in-laws making contradictory statements’

The family members of a woman who allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the river Jhelum earlier this month, Thursday appealed police to investigate the matter thoroughly as the contradictory statements being made by her in-laws are confusing.Mudasir Javed wife of Javed Ahmad Bungree of Illahi Bagh Soura, an engineer allegedly committed suicide by jumping into River Jehlum near Old Zaina Kadal bridge on May 05.While talking to KNS, the father of the woman said that they don’t believe that his daughter has committed suicide.“The in-laws of my daughter make contradictory statements. They claim my daughter committed suicide, while at the same time they allege that she has eloped. These statements are confusing us,” Abdul Aziz Butta, father of Mudasir said.“Over 15 days have passed since Mudasir allegedly committed suicide but unfortunately, her body is yet to be retrieved,” he said.

Irfan Aziz Butta, brother of deceased woman, said that they went to Mudasir’s in laws at Illahi Bagh to seek answers from them as to what forced her to take this extreme step.“However, their answer not only shocked them but made them confused about her suicide. Her husband, Javed Ahmad said that ‘they don’t know whether she is dead or alive. Go and talk to the police’,” he said.The family appealed to the police to investigate the matter fairly and thoroughly so that the truth comes out.Station House Officer (SHO) Maharaj Gunj, Manzoor Ahmad said that the police is investigating the matter and “efforts are on to retrieve her body.” (KNS)
