Swachhata Pakhwada : Cleanliness is collective responsibility of society: Sham Lal Choudhary

Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today said, “it is the collective responsibility of all the individuals living in the society to keep the surroundings clean.”“Keeping the state clean should not only be considered as government’s responsibility rather it must be taken as a social, corporate and personal responsibility,” he further said.The Minister was speaking on the concluding day of 15-day long Swachhata Pakhwada at Regional Sericulture Research Station, Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, in Miran Sahib.While addressing the gathering, the Minister said cleanliness should be given priority in the households so that children develop it as a habit and remain away from diseases throughout their lives. He called upon the educated youth to come forward and create awareness among the people about the benefits of cleanliness. “Their sincere efforts can give a major push to PM Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan”, he added.

The Minister was informed that Regional Sericulture Research Station conducted interactive sessions on Swachhata, elocution competitions, slogan writing contests and essay competitions in various schools and colleges of the state during Swachhata Pakhwada.The awareness drives and road shows were also conducted to educate people about water segregation, organic composting, vermi composting and organic farming besides providing cleaning agents, dustbins and solar lights to them.The Minister asked the Board to conduct similar awareness programmes on regular basis so that a sense of responsibility is developed in the local population and foundation of a clean and green India can be strengthened. Scientist-D Dr. Sardar Singh, Scientist Dr. MK Tayar, students and other officers of the Board were present on the occasion.
