Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik Friday condemned the ongoing ‘oppression’ in Jammu Kashmir and said that the crackdowns, ‘hooliganism, vandalizing whole villages, beatings and terrorizing’ people has and will never succeed in breaking the will of Kashmiris.Terming the crackdown of more than thirty villages in Shopian as ‘a ploy to terrorize people and force them into submission’, JKLF chairman in a statement issued to KNS said that beating common people, vandalizing their homes, orchards and vehicles, humiliating young and old and terrorizing whole population has and will never succeed in breaking the will of the people of Jammu Kashmir. He said that people of Kashmir have witnessed and bravely faced these kind of oppressive measures from last many decades but have always resisted all this with passion and valour.“History of nations bears a witness to the fact that oppression and suppression have never succeeded in defeating nations striving for their freedom and liberty and India and the government in Jammu Kashmir should also bear this fact of history in mind,” Malik said.Terming the shelling and firing on students at Sopore that resulted in injuries to many boys and girls as ‘ugly face of Indian oppression’, JKLF chairman said that “crackdowns, mass beatings, humiliating whole localities, arrests, raids and attacks on students is a glaring example of Indian state being at war with the people of Kashmir.”Terming majority of Indian news channels as ‘foot soldiers of Indian oppression in Kashmir’, JKLF chairman said that the way these news channels and their anchors are behaving and acting against Kashmiris and Muslims shows that they have sold their conscience to RSS fascism.

“Glamorizing oppression and demonizing oppressed has become the main job of Indian media especially majority of Indian news channels and by this attitude these people have proven their credentials before the whole world. These bias media people instead of behaving proxies to men in uniform should themselves put on military uniforms against Kashmiris and Muslims,” asserted Malik. He said that at Shopian lakhs of women, children, elderly and young where cordoned for more than 10 hours, hundreds of houses were vandalized and hundreds of vehicles broken by Indian soldiers but instead of reporting these facts and also reporting police attacks on young girl students, these media houses are busy demonizing the oppressed people of Kashmir.JKLF chairman also condemned the arrest of JKLF senior activist Mushtaq Ahmad of Koreg Ganderbal who was detained by police yesterday. He also condemned the attack on media people at Sopore in which many journalists have sustained injuries.
