The Passing out Parade of 107th (Male) and 108th (Female) batches of Recruit Constables was held at Police Training College, Jharoda Kalan here today. They took the oath in a colourful ceremonial parade after successfully completing their basic training. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju took the salute of the marching contingents. The parade was attended by Delhi Police Commissioner Shri Amulya Patnaik and other senior officers of Delhi Police. These batches will augment the trained manpower of Delhi Police. 964 Constables including 202 Women showcase India’s unity in diversity as 433 Constables including 134 Women are from North East, besides 105 Constables of Daman and Diu Police. This inclusion should help Delhi Police in capturing benefits of workplace diversity. During long and hard training they acquired skills in Law, Police Science, Criminology, Computer Application, Cyber Crime and Human Rights with emphasis on professionalism, discipline and good behavior. For effective community policing they have been sensitized on gender issues, Crimes against Women, Children & Senior Citizens. With special emphasis on Safety and Security of Women, all the Women Constables have been trained in Unarmed Combat (UAC) & Commando. In outdoor training, they are trained in handling of weapons, vehicle driving, firing practice.
They are trained to use the latest weapons. After witnessing their impressive march past, Chief Guest Shri Rijiju gave away the ‘All-Round Best’ trophy to W/Ct. Chiewelou Thele. In his address, Shri Rijiju acknowledged the working challenges in the Delhi Police. He said that the pan-India composition of the team would now enable the force to appreciate and be sensitized towards the diverse population in the burgeoning metropolis. This, he said, can be enabled only through discipline. He hoped the tough training will help them turn into true professional police personnel and encouraged them to come forward and accept the huge challenges of policing the national capital in a better way. Shri Rijiju was happy to know that these constables have been trained in counter-terrorism techniques, cybercrime, unarmed Combat etc. Stating that the Police and Security Forces are burdened with great responsibilities, Shri Rijiju hoped that they will certainly meet with the expectations.
He said the Delhi Police is amongst the best in the country, which should be maintained.He further advised the police officers to be sensitive to the security needs of women and protect the poor and weaker sections of society.Commissioner of Police, Delhi congratulated the freshly inducted Constables for completion of their training successfully. In his welcome address Shri Amulya Patnaik drew attention to the approach adopted and some key measures taken to enhance the effectiveness of the training which in turn would be visible in field duty. He said that the constables are expected to do their job with distinction, despite the challenges they face. He affirmed that unbiased service to the public helps in building trust. He added that the uptick in crime and its nature makes it imperative for the police force to be updated and acquire skills in latest technology along with physical and mental agility. Apart from functional knowledge he laid importance on soft skills so as to effectively meet responsibility towards the children, women, senior citizens, disillusioned youth and other needy sections. The educational profile of the 964 newly inducted Constables is quite impressive as this batch has 25 Post-Graduates, 347 Graduate, 8 B.Ed, one LLB and 478 Senior Secondary qualified personnel.
