Asiya Andrabi arrested in nocturnal raid

Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of Faith) chief Asiya Andrabi was arrested from her residence in Srinagar late Wednesday night, spokesperson of the outfit said adding that a contingent of police along with SHO Soura raided the residence of Asiya at around 11:30 pm and arrested her.Sources informed CNS that Asiya’s arrest came after she issued a press statement hailing the resilience of Kashmiri students.Asiya Andrabi is the founder of a separatist organization Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) and a member of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.In 2015, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had arrested Andrabi from her residence in Soura in connection with two cases registered against her -- for waving Pakistani flag and for addressing a rally by Hafiz Saeed via phone in Pakistan.She was also arrested during 2016 uprising and was released only after Jammu and Kashmir High Court quashed her detention under Public Safety Act (PSA). However, after her release, she was put under house arrest.Asiya Andrabi according to party spokesperson has been suffering from multiple ailments and need bed rest. (CNS)
