Gram Sabha at Panchayat Tikri held, works worth Rs 138 lakh approved

Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj today convened a Gram Sabha at Panchayat Tikri, here today.MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta, Secretary Rural Department  & Panchayati Raj  Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Director Rural Sanitation Jammu  M.M Rehman Ghasi,  Joint Director RDD Champa Devi, Assistant Commissioner Development Udhampur Om Parkash, Executive Engineer  REW Mehmood Ahmed, District Panchayat Officer Sandeep Seointra, Block Development Officer of  Tikri & Udhampur and large number people attended the gram sabha.While speaking on the occasion, MLA Udhampur highlighted the role of Gram Sabha said that Gram Sabhas are an important element of the Panchayati Raj system. He said that real progress would be achieved at the gross root level only if Gram Panchayats are strengthened and empowered. 

For this purpose, he stressed upon people for their cooperation for initiating various developmental activities in their respective area. He called upon people to take maximum benefits of various welfare schemes for the uplift of their socio economic status.While address the gathering Rizvi informed that Government has launched various centrally and state sponsored flagship schemes for welfare of general public and said that gram sabhas are an important medium to create awareness among common masses.He directed concerned officers of RDD to prepare and undertake development works in close coordination of locals and public representative. He emphasized upon people to closely monitor the quality of works and give regular feedback.Earlier, many key issues related to various schemes were discussed at gram sabha and priority plan as per targets was finalized and approved.  A total of 110 works under MGNREGA with total financial implications of Rs 138.50 lakh was approved and taken up for execution in Panchayat for the year 2017-18.
