CM Recalls Babasaheb’s Contribution To Uplift The Weaker Sections Of The Society

Organizes a State level function at Jalandhar besides unveiling statues of Dr Ambedkar at various district headquarters

To pay homage to Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr. BR Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, the Punjab Government today organized special function on his 126th birth anniversary throughout the State and a state level function at Jalandhar. To commemorate the life, vision and ideology of the great scholar, social reformer and a visionary leader, the life size statues were installed and unveiled today at various district headquarters namely SBS Nagar, Pathankot , Muktsar ,Ludhiana & Jalandhar .Earlier the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh paying sincere tributes to the legendary leader, Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr. BR Ambedkar, on his 126th birth anniversary, recalling his outstanding contribution to the uplift of the weaker sections of the society.In his message to the people, Captain Amarinder described Dr. Ambedkar as a scholar, jurist, economist, social reformer and statesman par excellence. Though he hailed from a humble family, he went to join the league of top global leaders as a result of his dedicated commitment to the backward and weaker sections, said the Chief Minister, adding that the Indian Constitution was the result of Dr. Ambedkar’s hard work, dedication and far sightedness.

The Chief Minister exhorted the people to follow the path shown by the great social reformer, urging them to work towards the realization of Dr. Ambedkar’s vision and dream by carving out an egalitarian society for securing justice and equality for all the sections of society. Captain Amarinder called upon the people to follow the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar and rise above the petty considerations of caste, colour and creed to lead India on the path of holistic progress.According to an official spokesman, addressing the different gatherings on various places throughout the state on this occasion, the speakers representing the state government said that to build an equitable & more homogenous society in Punjab, greater thrust will be given on social equality and the government would strive hard for the uplift of under privileged section of the society. The speakers also emphasised the need for ensuring quality education to the students belonging to under privileged sections of the society. They said that the Punjab Government was committed for overall development of the state with more focus on welfare of poor and needy people to realize the dream of Babasaheb.
