Describing architect of the Constitution of India Dr B R Ambedkar as a great visionary, National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday said the legendary leader worked tirelessly to foster egalitarian society and shed caste discrimination in the country.“The people will always remember him for giving best Constitution in the world”, Dr Farooq Abdullah according to the statement issued to KNS said while paying tributes to Baba Saheb at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan this morning.The National Conference President said that adhering to the principles of the Constitution and ensuring the fruits of democracy to reach all would be best and befitting tribute to the great luminary. He said the ideology of the legendary leader is humane, which is needed to be emulated. “Let us fulfill his dream by creating a society based on equality and social justice”, he added.Dr Farooq Abdullah, joined by senior party leaders profusely garlanded the portrait of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb and exhorted the people to propagate his principles and work for carving a society where opportunities of progress are available to all, irrespective of caste, creed, colour and the region. 

He said that Dr Ambedkar dedicated his entire life for the welfare of weaker sections and his contribution in that regard was exceptional.“There is greater need for collectively working for welfare of weaker sections of the society so that social inequality could be minimized”, he maintained.The function was organized by the NC SC Cell and its Co Chairperson Vijay Lochan threw light on various facets of the life and struggle of Dr B R Ambedkar.Paying homage to the legendary leader, Provincial President, Devender Singh Rana, formers ministers Abdul Gani Malik and Abu Ram Paul, who is also the Chairman SC/BC Cell, Th. Kashmir Singh Ex-MLC, State Vice President, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary and Dr. Chaman Lal Bhagat Ex-MLA, highlighted the role of the great legal luminary in framing the Constitution of India.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Bimla Luthra Ex-MLA, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal District President Jammu Urban, Satwant Kour Dogra Provincial President Women Wing, Abdul Gani Teli Co- Chairman OBC Cell, Veena Oberai, Dilshad Malik, Komal Manhas, Simer Dass, Som Raj Taroach, Subash Chander, Charanjeet Bhagat, Bishan Dass Bhagat, Nar Singh, S.
