Next budget will witness solution of farmer's debt-Manpreet Singh Badal

Punjab to take substantial stride in farmers debt as compare to Uttar Pradesh

Punjab Government is going to introduce an adequate solution to farmer's debt, which will be brought in next budget. The State is meticulously working on this issue and after three months the farmers of Punjab will get a big bonanza.Extending greetings on the eve of Khalsa Saajna Divas and Baisakhi to Punjabis, Punjab Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal stated this while addressing mammoth gathering at Baisakhi conference held here. Mr. Badal announced that Punjab Government would take even a bigger stride than Uttar Pradesh in respect of farmer's debt waiver. He said that Punjab Farmers would get big respite from debt after three months.The Finance Minister also announced that Punjab Government would soon pass a strong and effective Lokpal Bill with a view to bringing more transparency and accountability in governance. He said that Chief Minister and Ministers would also fall under the ambit of proposed Lokpal Bill. He said that as per the proposal of bill the consent of leader of Opposition would also be taken in the appointment of Lokpal.

Speaking on the fiscal health of Punjab, Mr. Badal said that "The outgoing SAD BJP government has left Punjab's coffers empty.  It has mortgaged Punjab's income to banks against hefty loans for years to come.Despite such financial health, Punjab government is committed to safeguard interests of farmers and other sections of society."The finance minister said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was working to propel the economy of state by inviting the major industrial houses of country to set up their ventures in Punjab.  He said that the Chief Minister recently held meetings with industrial giants at Mumbai, who had evinced interests to make investments in the state.Talking on the SYL issue, he said that Punjab's case had not been represented appropriately in the Apex court.  He said that now, Prime Minister Mr. Narinder Modi had intervened in the issue and called a meeting in this regard. He said that they were hopeful a political solution of this issue.Terming Punjab Governments decision to shun VIP culture commendable, Mr. Badal said that in first of its own kind the state government had taken landmark decisions in its maiden cabinet. 

He said that the Government would work tirelessly for ensuring good governance, welfare of people besides corruption free- state. He said that the government had regulated working hours of cops of Punjab police. The Punjab police cops will work up-to 12 hours a day.Meanwhile the Chairman Punjab Mandi Board Mr. Lal Singh addressing the gathering said that the Captain Amrinder Singh led Congress Government was fully committed to fulfill the promises made with the Punjabis in time-bound manner. He said that the crusade launched against drugs in state had taken a good start and in time to come the Special Task Force would bring more effective results.Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included MLAs Mr. Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Mr. Pritam Singh Kotbhai, Congress leader Mr. Khushbaz Jatana while MLA Mr. Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Mr Ajit Inder Singh Mofar and others were also present.
