Complete shutdown observed in Doda over killings in Kashmir

To lodge their protest against innocent civilian killings in Kashmir Valley and to express their solidarity with them, a complete shutdown was observed in Doda town of Chenab Valley and others parts of the district on Wednesday.As per reports, the shutdown call cum announcement was given from Jamia Masjid Doda which was observed by both the communities for whole day.The bandh call was supported by various social and religious organizations of the region.The shutdown affected normal life as majority of the shops and business establishments remained closed with thin traffic on the roads while the government schools and college witnessed low attendance.In this connection, elaborate security arrangements were made by Doda Police to avoid any untoward incident. During the shutdown, majority areas of the Doda region including Bus Stand Bharath Road, Nehru Chowk, Jamia Masjid Chowk, Bun Doda, Anwar Abad, Farid Abad area and other areas witnessed a deserted look and people preferred to remain indoors besides some of the major adjoining areas of Doda region also observed complete shutdown as a mark of protest against the innocent killings in Kashmir Valley.
