Jammu to offer tourists bouquet of religious, recreational, heritage experience : Priya Sethi

Launches construction of Lord Shiva Fountain at Peer Kho

As a sequel to facilitate tourists and locals with better recreational activities and mobilize tourists towards all inclusive heritage rich experience of Jammu city, Minister of State for Tourism, Culture, Floriculture and Parks Priya Sethi today launched construction work of Lord Shiva Fountain at Peer Kho, Jammu.The three layer red sandstone sculpture of Lord Shiva fountain is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 47 lakh.MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, Senior Political Leader Yudhvir Sethi, Director Floriculture Manisha Devi Sharma, Mahant Peer Ravi Nath besides other officials from concerned departments were also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the Government is laying focused attention on creation of durable infrastructural facilities in all vital sectors, especially tourism.

“Multiple assets are being developed to give thrust to independent tourism generation for Jammu city,” the Minister said, adding that, funds amounting Rs 280 crore have been sanctioned exclusively for Jammu region to give fillip to its economy besides generating employment avenues for skilled and unskilled manpower.She said that, in addition, Rs 60 crore Bahu-Mubarak Mandi Ropeway project will navigate tourists towards multiple destinations in a convenient and pleasurable manner, with many recreational activities along the route that provide something for each age group. The additional proposed projects for tourist involvement like amusement park at Peer Kho, the chair lift from Peer Kho to Mubarak Mandi, Grand Aarti on banks of River Tawi on the lines of Ganga Ghat, light and sound show at Bagh-e-Bahu depicting the history and heritage of the city will provide Jammu with multiple signature activities that combine aspects of religious, recreational and heritage tourism to make a wholesome experience, she added.
