Chander Parkash Ganga underlines students’ role in eradication of drug abuse

Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today emphasized the role of students in addressing the proliferation of drug abuse among youth adding that the student community must be resolute and put up a united fight against the menace.The Minister said this while addressing a function organized by Rotary Club at Brig Rajinder Singh Higher Secondary School (BRSHSS), Raya Suchani, wherein the organization donated hundred desks to the institution to supplement the existing education infra under “Rotary India Literacy Mission”.Reiterating the role of civil society, parents and activists in eradicating drug abuse from the society, Ganga said it is posing a serious challenge to the mankind globally. He called the drug abuse as mother of all evils which has engulfed society in a vicious pattern. 

The Minister enjoined upon the concerned to provide better facilities to the students and lay focused attention on the all round development of the children, adding that studies and co-curricular activities should be given equal attention. “It is responsibility of the school teachers and administration to work hard for increasing enrollment so that more and more students get benefit from the improved infrastructure of the government schools”, he added.The Minister appreciated the initiatives taken by Rotary Club for socio economic development of underprivileged and hoped that the organization will continue to partake in such initiatives in future.Chief Education Officer Samba, Principal BRSHSS, President of Rotary Club Jammu BR Chandan, students, faculty besides other officers of the department and members of Rotary club were present on the occasion.Earlier, B.R Chandan explained various social activities being performed by the Rotary in the service of humanity.
