The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Thursday reiterated his appeal for complete boycott of elections saying only time will tell how much love and regard people have for martyrs.“These so-called elections will make everything clear; whether people love the martyrs or fall into the trap of those who kill and blind our children,” Shah said in a statement to KNS.He said the whole world is keenly observing us as whether the people of Kashmir will boycott the pro-India elements “whose hands are smeared with the blood of innocent people” or support them. “This is a testing time and a matter of honour for us. We have to give a befitting reply to pro-India elements and make them accountable for the blood they shed of innocents,” he said.Shah said if we committed the “blunder” by participating in elections, our goal of freedom will get prolonged. He appealed people to “give a thorough thought to such fact”.“We’re not against any democratic process but to support the elections conducted by the imperialists and the merchants of blood will tantamount to strengthening of the illegal and forcible occupation that has enslaved us,” he said.“I also appeal to the youth of the nation to remain vigilant of the anti-movement forces and continue the freedom struggle with zeal and vigour.”

The DFP chairman termed the pro-India elections as the “biggest joke of the century” saying, nowhere in the world are people caged for conducting polls. “Only the shameless people become part of such activity,” he said.Shah directed the party activists to aware people about the “negative” consequences of participating in polls and the “deceptive” politics of NC, PDP, and other pro-India parties.Meanwhile, DFP spokesperson has strongly condemned the arrest of dozens of pro-freedom leaders and activists including Islamic Political Party chairman Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Mass Movement chairman Molvi Bashir Ahmad, and party’s Tanveer Ahmad.“This is nothing but the frustration of the so-called administration. Our freedom movement will continue despite such suppressive measures,” he said. The spokesperson said the Freedom Party’s leaders and activists are continuing with their anti-election campaign in south and central Kashmir where election boycott posters are being distributed among masses.
