JKLF remembers Dr Guru on his anniversary

People like him are ‘crown of nations’: Yasin Malik

Incarcerated chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik remembered Dr Abdul Ahad Guru on his anniversary.According to the statement issued to KNS, JKLF chairman said, “Dr Guru was an exceptional personality who not only left his mark over medical, political and religious fronts but worked relentlessly on social front through his philanthropic works.” JKLF chief said that people like Dr Guru are ‘crown of nations’ and personalities like these stand as ‘a symbol of glory’ for the living nations.He said that the freedom struggle of Kashmir is represented by the blood of intellectuals, Ulema, social leaders, teachers, lawyers, and personalities like Ishfaq Majeed Wani, Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, Professor Abdul Ahad Wani, Advocate Jalil Indrabi, Dr Ghulam Qadir Sofi Turabi, Mufti Jamal ud din, Pilot Nadeem Khateeb, Advocate Ghulam Qadir Sailani , Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah ,Moulana Shahbeer Sideeqi, Shams ul haq, Professor Muhammad Ramzan and others.“These great people were not only highly educated but well- established in their lives and despite all odds joined the ranks of struggle and embraced martyrdom,” he said.He said that these personalities add to the pride of nations and are actually gift of almighty to the nations.

Malik said that Dr Guru from his birth on 24 November 1939 ‘showed the characteristics’ of a godly person and today more than two decades after his martyrdom, Kashmir is yet to produce any one like him.“Dr Guru was first Kashmiri Muslim who started open heart surgery in Kashmir and wrote a new chapter in the medical history of this poor nation. His efforts for making Soura medical institute well established heath center are well known. His relentless work for educating new doctors and elevating them to new heights was unparallel. He was a selfless noble soul who always thought about the poor and destitute. He opened many health care centers in the entire Kashmir where poor patients were treated free of cost. A ‘Sarai’ for the poor patients and their attendants’ outside Burzalla hospital still remind us about his philanthropy. The mosques and Darasgah opened by him remind us about his Islamic belief and wisdom,” he said.Malik said, “JVC Medical College and hospital and other institutes remind us about his vision and all these works are a clear evidence of his towering personality.”He said that the best part of Guru’s life is that he without looking towards his status and position, joined freedom struggle and started the journey on thorny path along with other JKLF members.“He not only actively worked on the internal front of the movement but was very active on external diplomatic front also,” Malik added.

Malik said that nothing could deter Guru’s resolve and he continued his journey and achieved martyrdom on 1st of April 1993.“His brother in law Mian Ashiq Hussein also fell to the bullets,” he said.He said, “The fools who associate Kashmiri struggle for freedom with unemployment and lack of education should ponder over the life, struggle and martyrdom of Shaheed I Hikamt Doctor Abdul Ahad Guru who despite being highly educated and a reputed surgeon joined freedom struggle and laid down his life for the sacred cause.”While reiterating his appeal of complete boycott of upcoming elections, incarcerated JKLF chairman said that a nation that has rendered sacrifices has to understand the value and importance of respecting and safeguarding these sacrifices.Meanwhile, a JKLF delegation led by vice chairman Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt today visited the residence of Dr Guru and attended a congregational prayers meting there.Leaders paid rich tributes to Dr Guru and other martyrs.Also another delegation led by Zahoor Ahmad Butt visited Yaripora Kulgam and visited the bereaved family of Martyr Tawseef Ahmad.JKLF leader paid tributes to the martyr and expressed solidarity with his bereaved family.Meanwhile, JKLF has paid tributes to grandfather of its senior activist in Bandipora Mushtaq Ahmad Wani who breathed his last yesterday.While expressing condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased, JKLF prayed for the heavenly abode of the deceased.
