The Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal singh today said that   several initiatives are being taken  both at the central and state level  in order to ensure that the sports  sector gets  the requisite flip  and  upgradation of the infra is  also  ensured.The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the concluding function of District Level Sports Completion organized by   the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council under Khelo India initiative.Legislature Mr. Rajesh Gupta, Commissioner/ Secretary Youth Service and Sports Mr Hilal Paray, Additional Director General of Police Mr. Dilbagh Singh, Senior Officers of Sports council, members of sports council, sports persons and people from different walk of life were present in the function.While terming the Khelo India Initiative undertaken by the Prime Minister Mr Narinder Modi as a game changer in ensuring that the sports persons get the requisite and necessary facilities, the Deputy Chief Minister said that we have to ensure the success of it.  

He said that by doing so we would be ensuring the proper honing of sports talent besides providing the requisite opportunities to the aspiring ones.Dr Singh said that sports activities contribute in shaping the overall persona of young people by proper channelization of their energies.  He said that it can also play a vital role in taking them away from the   drug menace which is threatening to destroy our future generation.Legislature Rajesh Gupta also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the various initiatives being undertaken in the sports sectors.  He said that in recent past several national and international tournaments have been organized in the state which has contributed immensely in giving the requisite exposure to the budding talent.Later, the Deputy Chief Minister distributed prizes among the winners of different sports categories.
