Officials sensitized on JJ Act, ICPS scheme

National Development Foundation (NDF) in partnership with UNICEF and in collaboration with District Child Protection Unit Rajouri organized capacity building workshop of social welfare officials and other stakeholders on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act and Integrated Child Protection Scheme at conference Hall Dak Bungalow here today.District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri Dr Abdul Khabir, Dy SP Zakir Shaheen Mirza, Founder Emeritus NDF Rajiv Khajuria, Tehsil Social welfare officers, Supervisors, Caretakers of Bal Ashrams/ Nari Niketans, ICDS staff and other stakeholders participated in the workshop.Rajiv Khajuria discussed in brief about the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act and Integrated Child Protection scheme that brings several existing child protection programmes under one umbrella and initiates new interventions.Participants were also trained on child rights, child protection, existing child protection mechanisms, objectives of ICPS schemes, its guiding principles, approaches and various care, support and rehabilitation services under the schemes.Composition and functioning of district level structures under ICPS scheme including District Child Protection Unit, Juvenile Justice Boards, Child Welfare Committees, and Special Juvenile Police Units were also discussed in detail.District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri asked the participants to identify the children in need of care and protection or in conflict with law and benefit them under the provisions of the ICPS scheme and JJ Act for overall care and protection of the children in the district.
