LS Bye-elections : CEO reviews poll preparedness in Pulwama

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), J&K, Shantmanu, today chaired a meeting here to review the preparedness for the forthcoming by-polls for the 3-Anantnag Parliamentary constituency in the Pulwama district.The meeting was attended by District Election Officer, Pulwama, Muneer-ul-Islam, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Parvaiz Sajad, AEROs, Nodal Officers besides other officers.The DEO Pulwama informed the CEO that a total of 3,36,816 voters, including 6,083 migrant voters, from the Pulwama part of the Anantnag Constituency will exercise their franchise in the bye-elections. The number of polling stations designated here include 403, including 38 sensitive and 365 hypersensitive.It was also given out in the meeting that for a successful conduct of free and fair elections in the district 4 AROs besides nodal officers, zonal and sectoral magistrates have been appointed. 

This is besides the constitution of committees, check posts and teams for various assignments and overall supervision related to the elections.The EPIC coverage in the district is 87 percent.On the occasion, the CEO directed the Nodal Officer SVEEP to conduct awareness camps on regular basis to inform people about voting and voting rights.Earlier a SVEEP awareness programme was carried out at Circuit House, Pulwama, in which the CEO addressed a large gathering comprising district officers, sectoral officers, teachers and students. Speaking on the occasion, the CEO said that the motive behind SVEEP activities is to infuse democratic sense among the eligible voters.Among others, SSP Pulwama, SSP Awantipora, Nodal Officer SVEEP, CO CRPF and Deputy DEO Pulwama were present on the occasion.
