Chief Electoral Officer, Shantmanu, today convened high level meeting held here at Circuit House Shopian to review bye-poll arrangements for 3-Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency, including Wachi and Shopian constituencies of Shopian District as well.District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Shopian, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, briefed the meeting through PowerPoint presentation about the arrangements made for smooth conduct of the bye-elections in the district.The meeting was informed that 196 polling stations at 147 locations have been set up, out of which 183 are hypersensitive and 13 are sensitive. He further said that the district has 164183 registered voters in which male voters 87442 and female voters 76741, including 3946 migrant voters, while as the EPIC coverage is 91.77 percent in the district.

The meeting was informed that first phase of EVM training has already been completed. AROs and Nodal Officers appointed for smooth conduct of the elections also informed the meeting about various arrangements, including EVM training, communication, transport and other plans.On the occasion, the CEO commended the district administration for their pro-activeness and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place. He also urged the concerned officers to ensure presence of representatives from various political parties in all exercises especially mock polls and randomization.Later, the Chief Electoral Officer J&K visited Mohammadiya Higher Secondary School Shopian where the activities undertaken under SVEEP and exhorted upon the gathered students to exercise their franchise. The meeting was attended by the SSP, Shopian, Deputy Electoral Officer, Kashmir, Election Naib Tehsildars and other concerned officers/officials of the district.
