In a major breakthrough, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a XEN of Punjab State Water Resources Management and Development Corporation red-handed accepting bribe of Rs.1.48 lakh in the form of cheque.Disclosing this, an official spokesperson of the Bureau said that a contractor Mr. Harbans Singh S/o Mr. Gurdial Singh R/O Dharampura, Kilianwali, Sirsa lodged a complaint with the Bureau that XEN Suresh Kumar Goyal and J.E. Vijay Kumar O/o Lining Divison-2, Punjab State Water Resources Management and Development Corporation, Mansa were demanding bribe of Rs.1.48 for releasing the payment of canal drainage work executed by the contractor.On the tip off, provided by the complainant, a trap was laid and the XEN Suresh Kumar was red-handed, while accepting cheque of bribe worth Rs.1.48 lakh from the complainant. Afterwards, the Vigilance Bureau team during the search operation recovered Rs.4 lakh from his briefcase in his office, Rs.31800 from his pocket and currency notes worth Rs.25.61 lakh from his residence at House No. 204, Phase-3, Urban Estate, Bathinda.
