Brahm Mohindra today assumed charge as Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research and Parliamentary Affairs Minister here at Punjab Civil Secretariat.After assuming charge, he clearly spelt out his priorities and said that his focus would be on ensuring top notch healthcare facilities to the people of Punjab as part of his zero tolerance approach towards the deadly diseases i.e. dengue and chikungunya. The Minister further said that special emphasis would be laid on chalking out the roadmap to keep the hospitals adequately staffed with requisite strength of doctors and other para-medical staff so as to make sure that the mission of providing best medical care to people is not adversely affected.Outlining his vision for the Medical Education sector, the Minister said that he would soon hold talks with the Medical Council of India to increase the number of MBBS/MD seats which would give further fillip to medical education as well as research in Punjab besides acting as a catalyst for the students to opt for medical profession.
