MLA Kupwara reviews status of ongoing development works

Member Legislative Assembly Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Dar today convened a district and sectoral officer meeting to review the status of various ongoing developmental works in Kupwara Constituency.It was given out  that during current fiscal 20 road projects under R&B are at various stages of completion and so far Rs 9.23 crore have been expended, while as  8 road projects are in progress under PMGSY in the constituency, out of which 5 are nearing completion. Besides work on 5 bridges and a Degree College building is in full swing which is being executed by JKPCC.While reviewing the progress under Rural Development Department, the MLA was informed that under MGNERGA an amount of Rs.1.43 crore have been utilized and 85000 job cards issued generating 4.16 lakh man-days work in the constituency during current fiscal.The meeting was informed that 8 WSSs are under construction and Rs 1.80 crore were released for laying of pipes and upgradation of water supply works. 

Besides a fresh DPR was sought from the PHE for Zunareshie WSS which is under construction at cost of Rs 5 crore. So far Rs 2.95 crore has been utilized on the scheme, besides DPR for 7 Borewell projects have been submitted to the concerned authorities for early sanction.The MLA sought a comprehensive plan for permanent WSS in the area and asked the Irrigation Department to prepare a DPR for protection of Hot spots of Kahmil, Budh Nallas, Darasgah at Hirry, Wasar Koot under convergence plan.The MLA was further informed that under Health Sector Rs.10 lakh were released under District Plan (BADP) for up gradation of CMO’s office within the SDH Kupwara, while the fencing work of the institute is carried out by R&B Department. The MLA directed the authority to ensure cleanliness in and around SDH, Kupwara.
