DDC Ganderbal kick-starts Chinar plantation drive

District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Tariq Hussain Ganai, today kickstarted Chinar plantation drive by planting chinar saplings at Government High School Dagpora and Middle School Gadura premises in the district. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, CEO, District Floriculture Officer, Deputy CEO, and senior officers of the district administration accompanied the DDC.The drive was organized by the Floriculture Department in collaboration with Department of Education.It was said that the Department of Floriculture shall plant Chinar saplings at different schools and other Government institutions across the district and will provide Chinar saplings free of cost to the people to help improve green cover in the district. Besides, medicinal and herbal plants will be provided to various schools across the district.On the occasion, the DDC stressed the officers to make concerted efforts to ensure hassle free plantation drive and called for creating mass awareness among the students and masses through seminars and other related activities on the importance of planting more and more trees.
