A meeting of the Executive Council of the Hurriyat (M) presided over by Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq and attended by Executive Council members Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Muhammad Musadiq Adil, and Moulana Abbas Ansari was Thursday held at Headquarters Rajbagh. In a statement issued to GNS, the spokesman said that during the meeting, the Hurriyat (M) leaders held detailed deliberations on the ongoing political situation, resistance movement, and various organizational matters and the Hurriyat leaders said the unresolved Kashmir issue was not only dangerous for India and Pakistan but also for peace in the entire South Asia, where millions of people had for the past several decades been suffering and living a life of uncertainty.Stressing that peace, stability, and development of entire South Asia was connected with the resolution of Kashmir issue, the Executive Council meeting held that for the peace and development of the region, the international community was morally duty-bound to play its role in resolving the vexed Kashmir issue in its historic context and in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kahsmiris.

During the meeting, the APHC Executive Council members termed the killing of a minor student, Amir Nazir Wani of Bagambagh area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, who was martyred by the government forces, during a peaceful protest demonstration at Padgampora, Awantipora as the worst form of state-terrorism and said that it reflected the practical implementation of Indian Army Chief, Bipin Rawat’s recent threats to the civilian population of Kashmir. The meeting stressed that demanding their basic rights and raising voice against oppression was a just and universally accepted right of the people and the brute force being used by the government against the unarmed peaceful civilian protestors in Padgampora Pulwama demonstrated the cruel attitude of the ruling regime towards the people.Paying glowing tributes to the two youth, Jehangir Ahmad and Shafiq Sher Gojri, who achieved martyrdom during a gunfight with government forces at Padgampora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir, the APHC held that people of Kashmir would continue to pursue the mission of these martyrs with full commitment and unity and will take the ongoing resistance movement to its logical conclusion.

The APHC held that resolving Kashmir issue as per the wishes and aspirations of people of Jammu Kashmir was the first and foremost priority of the Hurriyat leaders and that the conglomerate’s political and diplomatic efforts in this regard would continue till the final settlement of the long-pending issue. The APHC strongly condemned the use of brutal force on the civilian population and unarmed citizens in Padgampora Pulwama and termed it completely undemocratic.Appealing people to make the shutdown protest calls on March 10, Friday given by the unified resistance leadership a success, the APHC leaders said on this day people would protest against the barbarism unleashed by the government on people of Kashmir and send a message to the international community that Kashmiris would continue their struggle for right to self determination until the final settlement of the vexed issue.
