SPMR College organizes workshop on Communication Skills, Gender Sensitization

Government SPMR College of Commerce in collaboration with Department of Life Long Learning, University of Jammu organized a 2-day workshop on Communication Skills and Gender Sensitization in the college campus today.The objective of the workshop was to sensitize the students of the basic communication skills and the gender issues.Elaborating on the topic, Director, Department of Life Long Learning and Member State Women Commission, Dr. Kavita Suri motivated the students for Gender Sensitization.In-charge Women Cell, Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar Ms. Anita Katil in her lecture made the students aware about the various sections of law which protect and promote the sense of equality of both the genders.Former Dean Academic Affairs Jammu University Prof. Poonam Dhawan dwelt in detail the role of women in society, saying that women folk had also played significant role in struggle movement of India.Department of Geography Jammu University Prof. Anuradha Sharma in her speech emphasized that individuals need to be open minded, rational and unbiased in their thoughts and action.Appreciating the efforts made by the Department of Life Long Learning, Principal Prof. J L Bhagat urged upon the concerned to work for the development and upliftment of the students. He called for organizing such activities in future for the benefits of the students. He assured that the college authority would extend every possible support for conducting such events in future.Prof. Archana Kaul presented the welcome address, while as Prof. Anita Kumari presented votes of thanks.
