Workshop on “Women in Policing” held at SKPA

One day workshop on “Women in Policing” for all the trainees of the Academy including 140 Lady Constables presently undergoing Basic Recruit Training Course  was organized at Radha Vinod Raju Auditorium of SKPA Udhampur.  The main objective of conducting this workshop was to discuss various issues pertaining to women police and their role in the society as well as in Police organization.Moreover, this workshop also provided the trainees, the opportunity to interact with women Police officers working in the field and discuss the issues and challenges of policing in the current security scenario of the state in order to encourage and boost their morale.Director Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur M. Sulaiman Salaria, IGP delivered the inaugural address.Among the special invitees Ms. Avny Lavassa, Addl. DC Udhampur delivered her presentation on “Present Role and Future Perspectives of Women in J&K Police”. She lauded the role of women in performing multifarious duties in Police Deptt.

Ms Rashmi Wazir, SSP Comdt. IR/14th Bn stressed upon balance between professional and personal life management to give their best whereas Ms. Tabussam Parveen, SSP, Dy. Comdt. IRP 7th Bn. highlighted the role and future challenges faced by women in J&K Armed Police. Ms. Manjeet Kour, SSP Dy. Comdt. IR/1st Bn highlighted the  Role of women in J&K State Disaster Response Force and Civil Defence.Ms. Shaheen Wahid, SP Traffic Rural Jammu highlighted the Role of Women Police in Traffic Management , Ms Sunita Kargotra, CPO, RPHQ Jammu sensitized the trainees on various laws related to women crimes and also highlighted various schemes. Ms. Sunniya Wani, also shared her views on issues and challenges for Management of the Women Police Stations.During his valedictory address, the Director SKPA Udhampur asked the trainees to implement the knowledge acquired in the workshop for the betterment of the society in letter and spirit. He also highlighted various schemes and initiatives taken by the Govt. of India and the Govt of J &K in connection with women empowerment.Meanwhile, he interacted with the BRTC lady trainees and advised them to be more professional, polite while rendering their service.
