Div Com reviews status of Jhelum dredging work

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting to review the progress of ongoing dredging of river Jhelum.Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Engineer I&FC, Representatives from Reach Dredging Limited and other concerned officials attended the meeting.Representatives of the Reach Dredging Limited, which is the executing agency, briefed the meeting about overall progress achieved, so far, in dredging work of the river. It was said that work on 4.25 lakh cubic meters has been completed against the target of 17 lakh cubic meters, which has increased the carrying capacity of the river significantly.On the occasion, the Div Com stressed the concerned to redouble their efforts for timely completion of the dredging work this year. He said dredging work hold vital importance for averting any future flood threat to a large extent and restoring the lost glory of the river Jhelum.
