DC Srinagar reviews plantation drive preparedness

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, today convened a meeting to review the arrangements for forthcoming plantation drive in the district.The DDC stressed on coordination among the concerned Departments for hassle free plantation drive and directed the officers to formulate a comprehensive action plan in this regard.The meeting was informed that about 1 lakh Conifer saplings would be planted at the Zabarwan foothills, while as 2000 Chinar saplings will be made available for public.  It was given out that 25 schools have been identified by the Social Forestry Department for institutional planting.Impressing the officers to complete the set targets well in time, the Deputy Commissioner directed them to make concerted efforts so as to ensure plantation at all available spaces across the City to make the Srinagar green and clean city.Director Floriculture, DFO Urban Forestry Srinagar, DFO Social Forestry Srinagar, and District Floriculture Officer attended the meeting.Meanwhile, as a part of its chinar plantation drive scheduled on March 14, the Department of Floriculture Kashmir will provide Chinar saplings to the public free of cost.
