Asgar Samoon visits Kathua degree colleges

Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today reviewed progress of different colleges of Kathua district here. During his visit to college, he interacted with staff and students of the colleges.Dr Samoon also gave away prizes, at a function here, to the students who achieved excellence in academics, NCC and sports.  He also released the special issue of research journal, “Journal of Biosphere” which included the selected research papers presented during the National level Conference on the “Role of mathematics and computer science in the development physics”.  He also released the maiden issue of science magazine “The Ravi”.Dr Samoon also inaugurated the Fish pond which is being constructed for the purpose of providing firsthand knowledge to the students of industrial Fish & Fisheries about the various aspects of fisheries and fish culture.He also took a toll of activities and achievements of all the colleges of the district from their respective principals during a review meeting held in the college.  During the meeting he directed the R&B Department to prepare a face lifting plan for Government Degree College Kathua.  

On the demand of hostel students, he instructed the P.H.E Department to provide an estimate for digging of bore well in the college Boys Hostel.  He also gave assurance that the infrastructure of the college shall be strengthened with more class rooms and customized desks.  He also provided assurance to take up the matter of starting P.G Botany in the college with University of Jammu, the sanction for which has already been accorded by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to the college in 2014-15.Taking toll of development works in other colleges of the district, he directed the MD, JKPCC to speed up the construction work in Government Degree College Bani and the development of multipurpose hall of Government  Degree College Billawar.  He also gave directions to Principal of Government Degree College Mahanpur to shift the college in the newly constructed building soon.  Mr Samoon assured the college administration Basholi that teaching and non-teaching staff strength would be increased soon. Land compensation of GLDM College Hiranagar was also discussed in the meeting.Later Dr Samoon also met a deputation of Academic arrangement lecturers and local fund employees and assured them that their issues would be looked on priority basis.Dr. Bharat Bhushan, ADC, Kathua and officials of JKPCC,  SICOP and R&B Dept also attended the meeting.
