Rains lash Kashmir, landslides hit National Highway

Kashmir Valley on Monday experienced intermittent rainfall while landslides that hit Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH) caused vehicular disruption.According to MeT Department here, moderate to heavy rainfall lashed Kashmir Valley since last night and continued throughout the day intermittently. In evening hours, there were reports of fresh snowfall from Jawahar Tunnel and other higher reaches of the Valley.The MeT Department said that light to moderate rain/snow would occur at many places over the state. The day temperature in Srinagar was recorded 10 degree Celsius while Qazigund recorded 7.5 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature in Pahalgam was recorded 6.6 degree Celsius, 13.9 in Kupwara, 8.2 in Kokernag, 4.2 in Gulmarg, 7.0 in Leh and 2.4 in Kargil.Meanwhile, multiple slides occurred along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway today as it rained heavily on Banihal-Ramban stretch. The slides mostly occurred at Seeri in Ramban while shooting stones were also reported. The slides caused disruption in traffic movement and caused traffic jam.(GNS)
