VK Singh reviews Mela arrangements, says it strengthens police-public relations

Arrangements for the 28th Police Public Mela, being organized in Jammu on February 26 were discussed at an officers meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today.The meeting was chaired by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Headquarters, V. K. Singh and was also attended by ADsGP, Dilbag Singh, L Mohanti and AK Choudhary.While discussing the arrangements made for the mega event, Mr. Singh sought reports from different committees, constituted for conducting the Mela in a befitting manner. It was informed that the required arrangements have been put in place for the day long Mela. More than 40 stall holders from various police establishment centres across the State are reaching here and are displaying their products at the identified stalls in the Mela.Mr. Singh, while addressing the meeting said the Police Public Mela has gained faith and fame at large scale among the masses as the event provides an opportunity to police and the public to assemble together and interact freely. The occasion has helped to strengthen police public relations and people from all shades of life are enjoying this Mela.He stressed to introduce more items representing different regions of the State to make the event more attractive for the public. He also asked the officers to ensure sale of remaining raffle draw tickets on the Mela day at the venue by establishing special sale counters.

ADGP disclosed that this time, 8969 fabulous prizes have been kept in the raffle draw which has increased the people’s interest in the event. The transparency in raffle draw has strengthened the trust of the people upon the organizers.Mela will be inaugurated at Police Sports Stadium, Gulshan Ground at 10.30 am and raffle draw will be held at 4 pm in presence of public, he added. Prizes would be handed over to the winner’s on-the-spot on production of original tickets.ADGP asked the designated officers to check the quality of the goods to be displayed for sale on reasonable rates to the visitors. Security arrangements for the event are being focussed on priority. It was also told that parking slots have been identified outside the venue for the convenience of the participants.Earlier, IGP Jammu Armed Range, Mr. S. A. Watali, who is also Chairman Arrangement Committee and AIG (Welfare), Dr. Haseeb Mughal gave presentations and apprised the meeting about the arrangements put in place to conduct the grand event smoothly.Among others, the meeting was attended by IGP, Y. Koul, Alok Puri, SD Singh, Danesh Rana, SL Sharma,  Jagjit Kumar, JP Singh, SK Gupta and Johny William,  DIsGP, AA Wani and Hilal Ahmed, AIsGP, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Mubassir Latifi, Sameer Rekhi and Kulbir Singh, SSsP, Rajesh Pran, Mrs. Anita Sharma, Randeep Kumar, Joginder Singh, Stenzin Nurboo, Sandeep Choudhary, DD Building, Munish Dutta, Ex. PCD, Nasir Hussain Zargar, Med.Supdt. Dr. Kirti Sharma, Sr. ADO, Nasir Khan and other police officers.
