JKSCW chairperson interacts with students, AWWs, ASHAs at Udhampur

Chairperson, J&K State Commission for Women Nayeema Ahmed Mehjoor today visited Udhampur district and interacted with Students, Anganwari workers and Asha workers with an aim to generate awareness among the women about their rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution.Chairperson said the objective of the interaction was to sensitize the women in general and female students in particular about various women centric legislations and women friendly initiatives of the Government besides making them aware about the working and functioning of the State Commission for Women.Stressing on the need for educating a girl child, Nayeema said that the Mother of a Girl child should ensure that her child gets education and equal opportunities adding that the empowerment of women should start from home. She said need of the hour is to change the perception of society towards the women and that can happen only if she gets education and equal opportunities like men.

Chairperson said it is very important that a girl student gets sufficient facilities at her school such as Toilets and other facilities so that she can complete her education without any hurdles.Stating that a healthy mother can run her home and office efficiently, Nayeema said it is very important for a woman to get proper diet and take good care of her health.The Chairperson further said that an Internal Committee must be constituted at workplaces so that various complaints related to harassments at workplaces can be redressed. She said that a state can progress manifold, only if the women gets equal opportunities and equal rights like men.Earlier, DDC Udhampur Niraj Kumar welcomed the Chairperson. CMO, Dr Chander Prakash also threw light on PCPNDT Act and related issues. Students of various educational institutions and Anganwadi Workers presented various awareness programmes highlighting several women related issues on the occasion.Secretary , State Commission for Women, Aijaz Abdullah, J&K  , Member State Commission for Women, J&K, Kavita Suri, ADC Avny Lavasa , Joint Director Planning Rakesh Jamwal, PO-ICDS Rakesh Badyal, Dy DEO Sapna Kotwal, DSWO Rachna Sharma, other district officers besides AWWs, ASHAs, Teachers and students in large attended the programme.
