DDC Kulgam reviews implementation of DDB decisions

District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, today chaired a meeting to review implementation of District Development Board (DDB) decisions and progress of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the district.It was given out that an expenditure of Rs 44.16 crore has been made till mid-February 2017 against the availability of Rs 66.81 crore.The meeting took sector wise review of progress made by various Departments in implementing the DDB decisions. Under the R&B Department, it was said that Science Block of Government Degree College Kulgam has been completed. Besides, 12 kilometres of road length under NABARD has been macadamized in the district.Further, Brazloo bridge on Kulgam-Qazigund road, 1x15 metre span bridge on Kulgam-Chambgund road and Odura bridge have been completed at estimated cost of Rs 5.31 crore, which were affected in 2014 floods. The meeting was told that work on bridges of Nillow-Mohammadpora at Areh and  on Khee-Kader road are nearing completion. 

Regarding power sector, it was said that the upgradation of Kulgam grid station from 30 MVA to 70 MVA has been completed, as a result power scenario in the district has improved significantly. In order to cut down transmission and distribution losses, Rs 4.03 crore have been approved to replace worn out transmission and distribution network in the district.While reviewing health sector, the meeting was told that as many as 6.94 lakh patients have visited OPDs of various health institutions in the district for treatment, while as 0.38 lakh patients in IPD were treated at the hospitals. Besides, 1763 major and 6524 minor surgeries, 42715 X-rays, 2.56 lakh lab tests, 18788 USGs and 844 CT scans were conducted in the district during 2016-17.It was given out that under irrigation sector Banimullah canal has been made functional having capacity of irrigating 1547 hectares. Under AIBP, 15 schemes are under execution at various stages in the district.

Under Education sector, it was said that 19 smart classrooms have been established with modern electronic gadgets by the Education Department in the district. In addition, 29 developmental works regarding the sector were completed during the current fiscal.While reviewing progress made by the Fisheries Department, it was said that 28.41 quintals of trout fish was sold at various outlets by the Department.  On the occasion, the DDC directed the concerned to explore and augment infrastructure and capacity of fish ponds so as to boost the sector in the district.Under MGNREGA, 3336 works have been completed and equal number of works is under execution. The DDC directed the ACD to ensure the completion of spill over works well before the culmination of current financial year.He also directed the officers to work with added zeal and ensure the completion of works in a time bound manner so that fruits of the developmental projects reach to the grass root level.Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Principal GDC Kulgam, ACR, ACD, Xens of R&B, PHE & PDD, Officers of Agriculture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Industries, Cooperatives, Handloom, Handicrafts, Social Welfare, Handicrafts and other concerned Departments attended the meeting.
