Orientation-cum-awareness camp held at Anantnag

An orientation cum awareness camp organized by the Directorate of Social Welfare Kashmir and Composite Regional Centre, Srinagar was today held at Government Degree College, Khanabal.The District Development Commissioner, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah was the chief guest of the function. While as SSP Zubair Ahmad Khan, ADDC Vice-Principal GDC Khanabal, AD Directorate Social Welfare Department Kashmir were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the Department of Social welfare needs to focus on skill development so that skilled human resources are created as there is an ample scope for self-employment.Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC Anantnag said that the social welfare schemes are inclusive and their success is based on their proper implementation. He stressed for effective and transparent implementation of the social welfare schemes on ground so that benefit reaches to deserving beneficiaries, He emphasized for publication of pamphlets by Social Welfare Department so that the information about various schemes can be disseminated to downtrodden sections of the society. He informed the gathering that the office of DSWO has compiled a list of 22000 girls who would be trained under HUNAR for different trades and vocations. Subsequently, Social Welfare Department has to rope in with the schemes of other departments like Handloom, Handicrafts, Agriculture, JKEDI, Udaan, etc.

Later, the District Social Welfare Officers and AD Schemes Directorate of Social Welfare gave detailed insights about different social welfare schemes like National Social Assistance Programme which includes IGNOAPS, IGNMPS, IGNDPS & NFBS; Integrated Social Security Scheme for women in distress, old age pension and pension for physically challenged persons; scholarship schemes like pre-matric, post-matric, merit-cum-means based scholarship, Dr. Ambedkar post-matric scholarship for Economically Backward Classes students and Denotified Nomafic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes; AASRA, CSSS, HUNAR, SMAS, schemes for differently-abled persons and different loan schemes.The officers and physiotherapists of Regional Composite Centre detailed about different clinical services, the methods of treatment of different disabilities - both physical and mental - being treated by the Centre.SSP Anantnag also spoke on the occasion and underscored the need of various reformative measures to be taken jointly by the Social Welfare Department and other departmentsAmong others officers of Regional Composite Centre Srinagar, DSWOs and CDPOs of Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian, officers of SC&ST Department, officials of Social Welfare Department, NGOs and a large gathering of beneficiaries attended the camp.
