Pulwama: Action plan to tackle drug menace formulated

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Muneer-ul-Islam, today convened a meeting with district officers to formulate action plan to tackle drug abuse in the district. Threadbare discussions were held on ways and means to curb the substance abuse. The participants formulated a comprehensive strategy to deal with the drug addiction in a fool proof manner and a modus operandi in the form of awareness programmes and sensitization was also devised to target vulnerable section of the population.The DDC called the drug abuse as mother of all evils which has engulfed society in a vicious pattern. 

He reiterated the role of civil society, parents and activists in eradicating this curse.It was also impressed upon the officers, doctors, and enforcement agencies who were present in the meeting to remain proactive and share the social responsibility so as to prevent this abuse from engulfing the entire society.Representatives of Traders Union were directed to regulate the sale of products containing acetone and related chemicals which are being used as inhalers by drug addicts.Among others SSP Pulwama, CMO Pulwama, Medical Superintendents, Consultants, Neuro Psychiatrists, District Social Welfare Officer Pulwama, Project Manager DIO Pulwama and others attended the meeting.
