Punjab Adhiyapak Sangh extends support to Congress in assembly polls

Capt Amarinder assures them of priority redressal of their demands, including regularization of contractual employees

Punjab Congress president has assured priority redressal of the Punjab teachers’ demands, including regularization of the contractual employees in the state, once the party comes to power.He gave this assurance in response to a letter written to him by the Punjab Adhiyapak Sangh, which has extended it support to the Congress in the assembly elections.In their letter, Punjab Adhiyapak Sangh president Nirmal Singh Fatehpur and secretary general Ramesh Attri charged the Akali government with failing to address their genuine concerns and urged Captain Amarinder to ensure that their problems are taken care of by his government after the polls.Besides regular recruitments, the Sangh has demanded complete abolition of the contractual system, which the Punjab Congress has already committed itself to. The Sangh further sought regularization of the existing  contractual employees within six months of the formation of the Congress government.
They have further demanded that the 6th Pay Commission should be implemented within three months of formation of Congress government, and all pending DA of the employees be cleared within three months of government formation."Further, they said, the DA installments, bonus and allowances for the studies of the students should be announced by the state government on the lines of the central government. No ban should be imposed on spending money from the state exchequer and the treasury should remain open for all genuine fund clearances as was the case during previous Congress regime from 2002 to 2007, the letter further stated.Fatehpur and Attri further  said in their letter that recruitment for all categories of the vacant posts in the schools should be done as soon as possible to ensure that the government schools impart quality education to the students. "Seniority downgraded by present SAD-BJP government should be restored and the fixed seniority system, according to the grade pay, as per the fifth pay commission should be implemented," they demanded.
