JKAACL felicitates Master Kartar Chand family in Gharana-7

The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today felicitated the family of Master Kartar Chand, a renowned singer of Poonch in Ghararna-7 at a function organized here today.Pertinently, Gharna-7 is a programme launched by JKAACL to promote and felicitate regional music which is being organized on 27th day of every month in recognition of commendable services rendered by the state’ artists towards art and music.Born on 1956 in Poonch, Mastar Kartar Chand, is a well known singer of Dogri, Gojri, Pahari and Panjabi languages, who after receiving his earlier education, did Sangeet Prabhakar and then four year Diploma in light music from Prayag Sangeet Sammiti, Allahbad. He, by the dint of his unique talent, is also an approved Composer of All India Radio who has given numerous performances in all over the country.Presently, Master Chand is running a musical institute entitled “Saraswati Sangeet Vidhyalaya” at Poonch and imparting music education to the new generation. By virtue of his hard work and honesty he has been decorated with numerous awards and appreciations from different State and private organizations.Vice-Chairman, State Legislative Council, Jahangir Hussain Mir was the chief guest on occasion. 

While speaking on the occasion, the VC applauded the role of JKAACL in organizing such programmes which not only recognize the contribution of settled artists but also inspires and encourages the budding artists to excel in the world of art and music. Besides, these events motivate youth towards the regional music which is the very basis of their existence. He said that the families of the senior artists felicitated in this programme not only honored but such performances also help in boosting the new generation. He also appreciated other efforts of the Academy for organizing number of activities to promote and preserve the regional music of the region.He appreciated the contribution of Master Kartar chand in the field of music saying that he had played an important role in promoting, preserving and developing the regional languages, music and folk of the region.Mastar Kartar Chand and his family members who also performed on the occasion included Triptan Kumari (wife), Trishant Kartar (son), Simran Bhardwaj (niece), Tanvi (grand doughter), Ankush Kumar (nephew), Pooja Bhardwaj (sister) where as Sanjay Kumar (brother) played on Guitar, Om Parkash (brother) on Dholak, Radhay Sham (brother) on Synth while Rakesh Kuamr played flute and Joginder Paul performed on Tabla. A well known writer Antar Neerav read out a detailed paper on the life and works of Mastar Kartar Chand and his family while vote of thanks was presented by Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri.Among others present were Arsh Sehbai, Dr Liaqat Jafri, Sajjad Poonchhi, Prof Nirmal Vinod, Prof Lalit Gupta, Rangeeley Thakur, Mrs Rajni Kumari, Dilpreet Kaur, Miss Palvi, Advocate Suresh Kumar Dogra, Mushtak Kak, Suraj Singh, Rajinder Narang and Er Sunil Sharma.
