Abrupt termination of over 200 Wireless Operators from Jammu Kashmir Police Department who were selected at district level in J&K Police Telecommunications in 2009 sparked a protest here in Srinagar on Monday. In compliance with the court directions, Jammu Kashmir Police Department recently terminated the services of 231 Wireless Operators among them 90 belongs to Kashmir while 141 are from Jammu region. The terminated Wireless Operators who assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar staged a protest and termed the order ‘unjust’ and uncalled for. “We have been in service from past 7 years, drawing salary and even our service books have been officiated. The decision of the Department shocked us.

We appeal to the Department not to disengage our services, but allow us to plead our case through department in the court of law,” the protesters told news agency CNS.They said that a competent police recruitment board made selection of more than 900 candidates as constable operators in 2009 after going through proper selection process that consumed 3 precious years of the candidates from the time of the publication of the advertisement notice. “Our only fault is that some disqualified candidates approached court and sought stay order on the selection list,” they said. They appealed Government to revoke the termination order and save their future.
