Electronic Transmission Of Postal Ballots Sent To The 5 Constituencies- Ceo V.K.Singh

The Chief Electoral Officer Punjab, V. K. Singh said that as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, Electronic Transmission of Postal Ballots have been sent to 423 service voters of 5 constituencies of Punjab i.e. four in Ludhiana and one in Jalandhar.In a statement issued here today, Singh said that with an aim to ensure that armed forces are not left behind in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections, Electronic Transmission of Postal Ballots (ETPBs) was introduced for the first time in Punjab for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha Elections. This novel initiative has been implemented in 5 constituencies of Punjab out of which 4 fall in Ludhiana District i.e. Ludhiana East ,Atam Nagar , Ludhiana central, Ludhiana North and one in Jalandhar West (Reserved).Giving further details of the ETPBs, Mr. V.K. Singh said that total number of Service voters falling in these 5 constituencies is 423 (284 in Ludhiana and 139 in Jallandhar). These voters have been issued ballots papers electronically by the respective Returning Officers. Service voters can download these ballot papers till 5 pm on 4.2.2017 and can send them to returning officers till 8 am on 11.3.2017 All the candidates have also been apprised of the new initiative through the required training cum awareness programme conducted by DEO Ludhiana and Jallandhar, said Mr. Singh.
