Brahmin Sabha extends support to Punjab Congress

The Brahmin Sabha Punjab on Friday extended its support to the Punjab Congress, while submitting a charter of demands to party president Captain Amarinder Singh with the request that the same be addressed once he takes over the government reins in the state.A delegation of the Brahmin Sabha, led by its chairman B.K. Dutt and president Sheikhar Shukla, along with a dozen other members, met Captain Amarinder to convey their faith in his leadership.

Captain Amarinder assured the delegation that their interests would be looked after once his government takes over after the elections.The Brahmin Sabha has constituted teams in various districts across the state to campaign for the Congress in the polls. The community, according to the Sabha, was living under the shadow of fear under the Badal regime and many had even been thinking of fleeing the state.Besides seeking construction of Khatti Dham and its declaration as heritage village, the Brahmin Sabha is demanding constitution of the Brahmin Kalyan Board for the welfare of the community. Other key demands of the Brahmin Sabha include appointment of Brahmin Sabha members to honorary posts such as chairman/members of the Board, etc., as well as appointments in state and district level committee of Punjab, along with SSPs and DCs etc.Appointment of Brahmin youth in government, semi-government and private sector jobs is another of the main demands that the Brahmin Sabha is pursuing.
