Demonstration camp on Micro-Irrigation Systems held under PMKSY

A demonstration of various Micro-Irrigation equipments and accessories covering Drip and Sprinkler Irrigation Systems was held at Krishi Bhawan Jammu for the technology dissemination among the concerned officers, technical staff and engineers of the department.Director Agriculture Jammu, Ashok Kumar Malhotra, and other senior officers were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Malhotra said that officers and field functionaries should be well versed with the range of products, method of use and specifications of equipments required for small, marginal and big land holdings to install drip/sprinkler systems.  The knowledge of the pumps, drippers, filters and other flow control devices required for various irrigation sources and crops with cost benefits can be helpful for motivating and training the farmers to adopt efficient and water saving irrigation devices. He further said that installation of these systems will increase the irrigated area along with facilitation in water saving and fulfillment of the vision “Per Drop More Crop and “Har Khet Ko Paani” as envisaged under recently launched  Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY).The representatives of different empanelled companies viz M/S Mahindra Agribusiness and Jain Irrigation Systems gave detailed lectures and PowerPoint Presentations on these irrigation equipments and accessories for Sprinkler and Drip Irrigation. There was also a display of various pumps, filters, pipes, drippers, valves, nozzles etc required for various agricultural crops. Kulbhushan Sambyal, Joint Director of Agriculture (Inputs), H. K. Razdan, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension), C. M. Sharma, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Central), Sunil Koul, Agronomist (Vegetables), R. L. Bhagat, CAO, P. L. Bhat, CAO, Reasi, Sunil Koul, CAO, Doda, Choudhary Mohammad Iqbal, CAO, Samba, M. I. Khateeb, Agriculture Research Engineer and other senior officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
